Friday Frivolity - Favorite Dance Movies/Shows/Books

It's time for this week's edition of Friday Frivolity - the blog party for all things fun, funny, hopeful & happy!

Just wait until you see what we dug up for this week's theme...

At last week's party, we shared our favorite monuments and sites around the world.

This week brings us National Dance Day, so we're sharing our favorite dance movies, shows and books.

1. So You Think You Can Dance

It took me forever to finally check this show out, but just before Gv came along, another coach finally begged me to try it and I realized that I could have been enjoying it all along.

I'd purposefully not watched it because it had all types of dance and I didn't have any interest in watching (things like hip-hop), but I've learned that what I appreciate most about this show is the variety and interesting routines the dancers come up with.

2. Dancing with the Stars

I haven't watched this show from the beginning, but it didn't take too many seasons before I started. My favorite season was the one Kristi Yamaguchi was on, followed by the one with Charlie and Meryl as a close second.

3. Bunheads

I sought this out because I was having Gilmore Girls withdrawls. This series was not only created by Amy Sherman-Palladino, but it featured Emily Gilmore, as well.

4. Center Stage

I've always figured this movie is to the world of dance what The Cutting Edge is to skating -- terrible, but so terrible, I loved it.

5. Royal Wedding

I could have probably made a whole list of Fred Astaire and other such movies here, but if I could just pick one, then of course it would be this, my all-time favorite.

Now time for the new stuff!
