Personalized Piggy Bank Gift

I've mentioned before that I prefer to make personalized gifts for others, so when we recently had 2 first‐birthday parties to attend (both on the same day!), I racked my brain to come up with something unique, helpful, and cute to create for a gift.

Since Gv was also turning one around the same time, I knew I wanted something significant that would last ‐ not just some random toy that would be quickly outgrown in a matter of months.

I remembered that I still had my piggy bank from when I was just a baby and decided to paint and personalize one for each of the special birthday boys.

First I had to come up with a theme for each pig.  One family loves Disney, so I decided to go with that idea for their son.  The other cutie‐pie was having a "moustache bash"‐themed party, so I decided to bring his piggy in on the fun.

I began by hunting down some plain piggies.  Next, I painted each one a background color (blue and red).  After that, it was time to add in the details (the eyes and nostrils, as well as the moustache and Disney dots).  Then I added the name of each boy to the pig (I tried to match the font to the pig's theme).  Finally, I coated everything with clear varnish.

I was really pleased with how these turned out:

 
Gv liked them, too.  In fact, I was a little worried the Disney pig might need to be re‐painted with Gv's name, she was so taken with it...
