Songs to Get You into the Spirit of the Season

If you like Casting Crowns and the gravelly voice of Mark Hall, then you'll want to add this album to your collection.  Peace on Earth is made up of mostly familiar carols, but each one is presented in an upbeat way.

My favorite Christmas carol (although it's really an Advent song), O Come, O Come Emmanuel, is featured as an instrumental piece on this CD and just as lovely as you could imagine.  But my number-one music choice is definitely I Heard the Bells on Christmas Day.  My radio station plays it quite often and they have certainly made a good choice in doing so!

An Activity to Add to the Jolly Atmosphere

Yesterday was fine art and today is crafts!  Gather up your little elves and create plenty of decorations to add a more festive air to your home.  Get some great ideas here (because the whole experience needed its own post).

Some Reading Sure to Garner a Great Response

Take a turn hunting for a different man clothed in red and white in this fun book patterned after the popular Where's Waldo series.  Where's Santa? will provide hours of searching fun in these days leading up to Christmas!

A Movie to Get You in a Merry Mood

Another year, another holiday separation.  I'd actually never seen this movie before, but a couple of months ago, I was babysitting my nieces and they begged to watch this.  I could see why they enjoy Home Alone 2 - it repeats all the silliness of the first movie, but seemed to do an even better job with it..

Faith Focus to Put You in a Festive Frame of Mind

If you haven't downloaded them already, make sure to grab your free coordinating printables to go along with this portion of the series.

Day 6 -Jacob
Read Genesis 28:10-22 and think about the different times God used dreams as a communication tool.  Then read John 1:51 for a New Testament connection.

Today's study also includes a prophesy fulfillment.  Read Numbers 24:17 and then Matthew 1:2 to see how Jesus lives out Matthew 5:17 (see verse in graphic below) as a descendant of Jacob.

Add your ladder sticker to the tree to serve as a reminder for today's verses.

What will you be doing to observe this sixth day of Advent?  Do you have any favorite craft activities to recommend?  I'd love to hear!  Leave a comment or email me at lisahealy (at) outlook (dot) com.
