It's time for another round of 5 After 5!  In case you missed it, last week's list was 5 of your favorite childhood book series and if you're new to this series, you can read more about it here.

Today I've got my list of 5 to share, as well as next week's topic for you to stew about over the upcoming days.

And if you've posted your own 5 After 5 list on your blog, I've turned this series into a link party - so be sure to get your own 5 things added below (or leave your answers in today's comments if you're not a blogger).  I loved reading everyone's comments from last week and I really can't wait to see what you share today!

List 5 Things You Do Every Day

Are you a person who thrives on following routines?  I am.  And there are certain things I have to do every day in order to feel settled.  Here are five of them - see if any are on your list, as well.

1.  Make the bed

It's nothing fancy, but seeing our brightly-striped comforter peeking out from behind the bedroom door puts a smile on my face all day long.

2.  Open all the window blinds

Unlike my husband, I wake up raring to go in the mornings, and I just love flooding the house with natural light right off the bat.

3.  Clean up the kitchen

Not our kitchen - but isn't this one lovely and clean?

I usually try to clean up all the dishes and counters before I go to bed each night, but whatever things I've hand-washed are always greeting me from the drying rack when I enter the kitchen in the morning.  Besides putting those away, I've got to deal with all the breakfast aftermath, so this little chore takes a good chunk of my morning.

If I don't take care of it right away, though (maybe because I have to run to an early appointment), then I feel all out of whack until I do.

4.  Straighten the hand towel

As you can see, "bleach the hand towel" is not so much a priority...

This one's a little crazy, but if the hand towel hanging across the oven handle isn't perfectly straight, I have to adjust it before I can pass by.

5.  Pray

Gv "reading" the Bible to the dog...

In this post, I shared the rather unusual location that I used to do most of my Bible reading in.  I told how that routine had changed once Gv came along, and now that diapering is no longer part of our life, we often shift back to that option again (but now it's when she's sitting there contemplating things).

For next week:

Oh. My. Word. This SO could be my list. Even to the hand towel! Yes! I am a freak about it...not quite "Sleeping With the Enemy"-esque, but close. (Ignore that reference if you're a nice girl who doesn't watch that sort of thing and/or too young to know that movie and/or too refined for that that level of Julia Roberts' drivel and/or you only watch films on the Oscar "foreign" list and no, you don't need subtitles.) Thanks for giving me a huge "me, too" moment! I'm working up my own post to link right now. :)

Woo-hoo! Another hand-towel crazy, like me! And OhMyGoodness, you have me cracking up (again) with your Sleeping With the Enemy reference - I am so NOT too young to get that reference and while we do watch an awful lot of foreign films (and yes, in their native languages - see the 2nd post in the 5 After 5 series (http://syncopatedmama.blogspot.com/2015/08/5-after-5-foreign-film-edition.html)for some really great ones -I am definitely NOT above that level of drivel and like a good thriller (not slasher/horror, mind you) now and then.

I'm so excited that you're linking up with my party and I hope you keep coming back!
Oh, dear God. I am now removing my FOOT FROM MY MOUTH long enough to type this response. Mea culpa, my new friend...I didn't know about the 5 After 5 Foreign Films Edition when I ran off my mouth (er, my fingers) in my comment. My apologies if I caused any offense...clearly, I am not classy enough to rub figurative shoulders with you, but I hope you'll forgive me and let me anyway. In exchange and as a show of gratitude, I'll send you "Sleeping With the Enemy": The Collector's Edition. (Note to self: read all of a blogger's previous posts before leaving any comments.) And yes, if you'll still let me, I'd love to come back! :)
OhMyGoodness, I was NOT offended AT ALL and just shared that post with youbecause I think the movies I listed are really cool and everyone should see them. You have me cracking up again - I look forward to receiving my movie {wink} and even more, I can't wait for you to come back and join next week's list! And goll-ee (say it like Gomer Pyle), I'm still working my way through all of your posts, so I certainly don't expect you to have read all of mine!
Isn't it amazing the things that we routinely do in our everyday life. I would add to the list check to see if the doors are locked at night. This is just a nightly ritual at our house !!! Thanks for bringing our daily tasks in view.

I definitely have to check the doors, too. I'm the one who HAS to say, out loud, "the doors are all locked" every time I leave the house - otherwise I get half a mile down the road and have to turn around, because what if I DIDN'T lock and close all the doors, in all my decades of life? Thanks for stopping by to say hello today!
Good list. Thankfully, they are part of my routine too.

How fun that you do the same things, Julie! Thanks for stopping by to say hello!
Yes! Finally after almost 20 years I have my husband on board with the opening the blinds. Thanks for linking up at Made for Kids!
