Yummy Yogurt Bark

We're very into snacking around here, so I try really hard to come up with healthy, homemade snacks that seem like oodles of guilty fun.

Gv loves munching on random frozen things (like peas, corn, and fruit - she's a little weird sometimes) straight out of the bag and she also likes yogurt, so it just made sense to combine these two categories into a new frozen "dessert" snack for her one day.

And this is a dessert snack with zero sugar (well, if you don't count the natural fruit sugar, of course).

It's also so easy to make, it's ridiculous.

I'm not terribly fond of this bark myself - because I don't care for cold things, but for the girl who wants her pasta, pizza, rice - basically anything that goes into her mouth - cold, it's a win.

What You Need

1 32-ounce container of yogurt (see how to make your own here)

1 10-ounce bag of frozen fruit (or a cup of any fruit, but it chops up easier if it's frozen)

1 Tablespoon vanilla (this is our secret weapon to making something seem sweet, without using sugar!)

This recipe really couldn't be simpler!

What You Do

1.  Pulse your fruit  in something like this until it's nice and pulverized.

2.  Dump everything into a bowl and get it all mixed up really well.

3.  Spread the mixture out onto a baking mat-lined cookie sheet until it's nice and even.

You could easily use larger chunks of fruit, but by making them small like this, I don't have to worry about Gv choking.  Plus, I'm lazy, and it's far easier to just dump it all in a machine to grind, rather than hand-chop it myself!

4.  Stick the tray in the freezer for a few hours.

This looks so pretty and puckery! I'd never have thought of this, but I can't wait to try it soon during this summer that's supposed to be hot and dry. Another stroke of brilliance from you, dear Syncopated Mama!

Well, I made a MONSTER batch before realizing it wouldn't travel well, so if only I could fax some to you right now, I'd do it! :/
Perfect grab and go snack for the kiddos this summer.

Definitely, although if you live in our heat (as I know you do), then you'll want them to eat it fairly quickly (& have towels to wipe their hands on), as they do get a bit melty. I'm anxious to see how they do in a soft-sided cooler (with a freezer thingy) at a park or something, because I think they would be the perfect, refreshing treat someplace like that!
Yum! This sounds like such a delicious and refreshing snack for the summer! Thanks for sharing with #SocialButterflySunday, Lisa! Hope to see you link up again this week :)

It really is perfect, Kelly, and just so easy! So happy to see you here today!
Hello,

Yummy! I am so glad you posted this recipe! I have a VERY picky eater who hardly likes anything (not even sweets) except yogurt! So this might be a great way to sneak in some healthy fruits with her yogurt. I might even get creative and see if I can sneak in some veggies and fruit...but that might be stretching it;). Thank you so much!

Ooooh, I really hope this yogurt bark is just the trick for your picky eater! Don't be afraid to add in some honey, if she needs it a little sweeter. We usually just add vanilla or cinnamon to plain yogurt along with the fruit, but I'm guessing a little honey would be a good addition for most. So glad you stopped by to say hello today, Lisa!
I think this would be a hit with my kids. They like to freeze their tubes of yogurt, and have recently tried chocolate straight out of the freezer. Especially now that it's 90 degrees and above here in Oklahoma, this would be a great treat! Thanks so much for sharing the recipe with #FamilyJoy Linky Party. :)

I can remember just freezing plastic cups of water when I was a kid - it was things like that that helped me survive the Florida summers!

This looks so pretty and delish! I bet the little one loves it with her penchant for ice cold foods! When I was young I loved icy things, now that I'm older my teeth let me know when something is too cold! ARG! This looks like a great summer treat for anyone though, it's so hot out that all I want is cooler, fresher foods. And you could add any type of berry to this that you choose. Pinning to share!

I feel the same way - except for ice cream cones, I'm not real big on frozen stuff - even though I loved it all as a kid! And yes, you could so easily customize this treat to whatever flavor you want!
