Welcome back to Latticed Learning! This year, we're continuing to learn while we play - repeating many of our favorites from last year while adding in all sorts of new activities as well.
This day's post is devoted to our weekly Bible stories - some weeks have more activities than others, but each lesson will help your little one grow closer to God!
Read the Bible
Read a Little More
We think books are the best around here, so it's always fun to discover great new titles. I found one that looked intriguing:
And then I got this beautiful board book that is perfect for this week's lesson!
Read my review here: Found: Psalm 23.
I decided to mainly focus on Psalm 23, although we didn't do many, since we were still up to our elf ears in Christmas fun:
We made the shepherd, sheep and palm tree from this cute set. We didn't even bother with using the toilet paper rolls. I just printed them on regular paper, Gv colored them, then I rolled and taped them. She ended up using them kind of like finger puppets, which I thought was a clever way to play with them. I can also see printing out the rest of the Nativity Set in the future, because I know she'd like to make and play with those, too.
Finally, we printed the single-page version of Psalm 23 from this site to cut out and post as our story sequence cards for the week (we only used five of them).

Sing Some Songs
I didn't come up with many songs for this lesson, but I did come across the "Psalm 23" song on this CD that looked promising.
Watch Some Videos
Gv watched this cute video. Even though the Bibles we're using don't cover David and Bathsheba, I figured it related and would help give her some background knowledge later on, when we do read about it.
Play and Create
We did a couple of things to learn more about the story of King David:I decided to mainly focus on Psalm 23, although we didn't do many, since we were still up to our elf ears in Christmas fun:

Little tip: Always take photos of things immediately after finishing their construction. At this moment, the palm tree is missing. |
I'd printed out these cute coloring pages, knowing that Gv would probably be in a coloring mood, but forgetting about all of our Christmas crafts that we'd be doing. I ended up putting these away for another day, which is just fine, because it will always be a good time to become more familiar with Psalm 23.
Then we made this little sheep, using tracings of a couple cookie cutters:
I did find this little crown maze to print out, to talk about David being king:
