We have quite the set of bedtime books around here - in case you missed it, here's my Bedtime Books for Little Ones post sharing our favorites.
So when this new book arrived, I wasn't sure whether to cheer or groan.
At first, I let out a big whoop and a cheer, because I was overwhelmed with excitement at the thought of adding a new title to our nightly reading stack.
But once Gv and I read through it once, I groaned, because I realized we were adding a new title to our nightly reading stack!
Yup, sleepy time just got extended by however long it takes me to read this thing, because I can totally tell that I will be reading this book to her every. single. night.
But seriously, I don't think I'll mind the extended bedtime routine too much because this book is just too adorable for words.
The simple story centers around a little boy and his mom at bedtime, where their hugs rival those of a passel of different animals ranging from a bear to household pets to barnyard critters to creatures of the sea and more.
Each animal's hug brings its own fun along with it - from the dog's "sleep like a log" hug to the bug's "wiggly wriggly, make you giggly" hug, your little one will be sent off to slumber feeling all warm and cozy inside.
You all know that I'm a sucker for cute illustrations and rhyming text and this book has both!
In fact, the rhymes are so pleasant to read, I feel I can safely predict that I won't get tired of reading this one at all.
And I feel like I've received a big old hug myself just from flipping through all the adorable drawings!
This title is available in hardcover and board book formats. We were sent the hardcover version and it is absolutely fabulous, but I have to say that I think it would make the perfect board book, as well!
This book is suggested for children 4-8 and while I agree with the upper age limit, I would change the lower one to birth.
Especially if you're able to nab the board book version.
But whether you choose the board book or hardcover edition of this title, you won't be disappointed when you add this great little bedtime book to your evening stack!
