5 After 5, Favorite Teachers/Grades/Subjects

Did you enjoy school, when you were younger?

I was generally pretty happy with it and did the student thing pretty well...

It's time for another round of 5 After 5!  In case you missed it, last week's list was favorite back to school items and if you're new to this series, you can read more about it here - then catch up on all the old editions here.

Today I've got my list of 5 to share, as well as next week's topic for you to stew about over the upcoming days.

And this series is a link party, so be sure to scroll down and join in all the fun with us this week!

Favorite Teachers/Grades/Subjects

There's no particular grade or subject that stands out as my favorite (well, I guess it would be math, since I took so much of it in college for "fun" elective choices), but I do have several teachers that I especially enjoyed:

1.  Mrs. Pegram

She was my 7th-grade math teacher and just a really pleasant person (despite the fact that my one and only detention in my life came from her!)

2.  Mrs. Dove

Not only was she Mrs. Pegram's best friend, but she asked me to be her assistant the following year, when she left her role as 7th-grade English teacher to take on some sort of special reading responsibility for the school.

I got to spend one period a day in her cushy office chair, doing data entry -- which produced mad 10-key skills that served me well later on, when I was in administration.

3.  Mr. Powell

He was my 8th-grade U.S. History teacher and was fabulously unconventional, which I appreciated then, but do so even more today.

4.  Mr. Davis

He was my American History teacher in 11th grade and the most fun, ever. He called us all by our last names and shared all sorts of dirty historical secrets with us and was always ready with a joke.

5.  Mrs. Blomquist

I was a good math student at the very beginning of my school career, then had a terrible teacher in 2nd grade who wouldn't let me "do math" in my own way and broke me down so badly that I turned into a struggling math student all the way up through Geometry.

Then I had Mrs. Blomquist for Algebra II Honors, and my life changed.

I went from Cs (and even a D once -- I was not a C/D student) in math to straight As -- even in Honors Engineering Calculus in college (which I took as a "fun" elective!)

Besides changing my math life, she was a lovely woman that I was blessed to have as my teacher for two years in a row.

For next week:

Favorite school memories

These could be projects, field trips, special school events, friends, whatever you remember most fondly about your life in school.

I can't wait to see what you share!

That's right, every post will be read, pinned and tweeted!

Every Saturday, just stop by one of our blogs to add your own list of five, then pop over and read as many other posts as you're able to each week - treat it like a true party and really mix it up and mingle with our fun little community!

The rules are simple:  just write your own list following the prompt each week (feel free to interpret it loosely - or in a unique way!), follow both of the hosts on the social media channel of your choice, and then get into the spirit of the party by grabbing your favorite beverage or snack and reading the lists of the other party-goers.

Your Hosts:

What's your list?  I'd love to hear!  Either leave a comment below or email me at lisahealy (at) outlook (dot) com.
