5 After 5, Favorite Fall Recipes

Do your thoughts turn to fall the minute your calendar switches from August to September?

We don't experience fall here, but we do eventually reach the point where we're not melting 24/7 from the heat, so then we try to trick ourselves into feeling the autumn spirit...

It's time for another round of 5 After 5!  In case you missed it, last week's list was favorite school memories and if you're new to this series, you can read more about it here - then catch up on all the old editions here.

Today I've got my list of 5 to share, as well as next week's topic for you to stew about over the upcoming days.

And this series is a link party, so be sure to scroll down and join in all the fun with us this week!

Favorite Fall Recipes

We're not so into pumpkin spiced-everything around here. No, when we think of fall, we think of soup.

We love soup.

Like, I'll make a different one every week (Yaaaay Lazy Crockpot Meal!), sometimes twice.

But, this isn't a "Favorite Soup" list, so I'm including a few of our favorite non-soup fall meals, as well.

1.  Comforting Carrot Onion Soup

I created this soup when I had an overabundance of onions (50 pounds!) and carrots (25 pounds!) and having all those extra veggies turned out to be one of the best problems I've ever had!

2.  Pumpkin Seed Squash Muffins

We can't have soup without having some sort of bread product to sop up with and these muffins do the job perfectly!

3.  Savory Sweet Potato Lentil Soup

I created this soup when I wanted some chili, but didn't have the stuff to make chili, so I came up with this amazing alternative.

4.  Pumpkin Seed Pesto Pizza

Our weekly pizza nights keep on going strong throughout the autumn and this drool-worthy pie is one we can never get enough of!

5.  Butternut Mac & Cheese

We really love cheese around here, so whenever I can find a way to cut a bit of the stuff out of a recipe, it's a good thing. Not only has this recipe helped us cut down on our cheese consumption a bit (Oh, who am I kidding? It just means we can eat more cheese in something else!), but it adds in extra veggies, as well.

And it's delicious -- did I mention that?

6.  Perfect Pumpkin Soup

I know, I know, I can't count. But I also couldn't help but share this one other amazing soup with you.

And yay, bonus! I'm now craving each one of these meals so much, I think I've got next week's menu all planned out!

For next week:

Favorite fall activities

I'm half dreading seeing all the great things you'll list for next week, because I know it's all probably going to just make me extremely jealous of your weather and the fact that you actually get to experience seasons.

My list might not be very "fall-y," but there are definitely certain things we do in our "not fall."

That's right, every post will be read, pinned and tweeted!

Every Saturday, just stop by one of our blogs to add your own list of five, then pop over and read as many other posts as you're able to each week - treat it like a true party and really mix it up and mingle with our fun little community!

The rules are simple:  just write your own list following the prompt each week (feel free to interpret it loosely - or in a unique way!), follow both of the hosts on the social media channel of your choice, and then get into the spirit of the party by grabbing your favorite beverage or snack and reading the lists of the other party-goers.
