If you've read about our Celebrating the Season tradition, you already know that we're big fans of the classic Clement C. Moore poem around here, as well as the Rankin & Bass cartoon that we grew up watching on tv.

And if you've hung around the blog much at all, then you also know how much I love reading children's books that rhyme.

So when this arrived, I was so excited I knew there was no way I could wait until Christmas night to read it:

'Twas the Evening of Christmas

I had such a blast reading the sing-song verse of this story and it checks all the Christmas story boxes:

No room at the inn.

The baby is born!

The angels make their announcement.

Even though we already own approximately 835 Christmas-themed books already, this one has already become one of our favorites!

Besides the poetic nature of this story, the illustrations are just fabulous and really deserve a second look.

I love this perspective -- not only from the dove's point of view, but glimpsing through the fog, as well.

Their faces are so expressive!

Looking through all those angel's wings -- so creative!

It's such a wonderful book, I highly suggest you wrap one up to open and enjoy in your family this year, too!
