I was curious to see what this film would be like:

We sat down to watch it last weekend for a family movie night, but I kept having technical difficulties with the computer, so I ended up having to sit at my desk yesterday and watch it myself. Gv was in the room listening, but working on something else.

...which, after a bit, I was, too.

I feel bad saying that, because there's nothing awful abut this movie, and I'm so happy that these people experienced such amazing miracles in their lives, but as a movie, it just didn't work for me.

I knew it was a documentary, so I wasn't expecting to be entertained, but I can't picture paying to see this in the theater -- other than to support the project, which I would be happy to do.

For me, this film was a fine thing to have on in the background as I worked on planning our upcoming 4-H meeting, but I definitely kept thinking that I was so happy it hadn't worked out for our family movie night.

Gv said the same thing, that it was really cool to hear that these miracles had happened, but that it didn't seem like a movie she'd have wanted to sit and watch.

Here's what the film is about:

I Am Living Proof is a compelling and intimate look into the lives of three individuals who face an extraordinary life-altering event:

Bri, once a promising student, finds her academic dreams derailed by an illness that’s deteriorating her body. For seven years, she’s caught in a cycle of failed medical treatments and excruciating pain, pushing her toward assisted suicide.

Steve’s life spirals out of control after a workplace accident leaves him dependent on opioids. Jobless and desperate, he attempts to end it all with an overdose.

Mary, a mother of five, faces debilitating pain from a spinal injury that leaves her unable to care for her children—until a vivid dream sparks an unexpected turning point.

Unbeknownst to them, their paths are about to intersect with Mario Murillo, a traveling preacher who’s spent his life sharing God’s love and healing power, when his old-school-style tent revival happens to be in town. This chance encounter challenges their beliefs and offers a glimmer of hope in their darkest hours.

In the summer of 2022, thousands gathered under a revival tent in Colorado Springs as churches across the community joined forces to host renowned evangelist Mario Murillo. Among the countless testimonies of healing that emerged, three extraordinary stories from local residents captured the attention of director Bob Maddux and producer Shane Gilbert. These compelling accounts of transformation - each uniquely powerful - demanded to be shared with a broader audience, leading to the creation of this groundbreaking documentary.

See, pretty cool story, right? Like I said, I'm happy to support this project, but we just didn't feel like it worked so much for us as a movie.

If you are more interested than we were to watch an informative documentary in the theaters, then buy tickets today to see I Am Living Proof starting March 9!
