Project Snapshot - Week 195

Each week, Project Snapshot captures a memory from the past few days - either with a camera, words, or both.

Time passes in the blink of an eye - see which treasured memory will join the year's collection for this week:

My Snapshot(s)

Practicing her "droopy arms" with Mr. Hoffman. I play the lesson on the tv and we bring out the keyboard for her to use. After she finishes the lesson, she gives it all a go on the real piano in the other room. And, just in case you were wondering, yes, that is exactly how my family room floor looks, 99.9% of the time.

Back in the spring, Gv had wanted to start learning to play the piano.

Well, she really wanted to play the violin, but when we got the violin out for her to try, we realized her arms just weren't long enough to hold it, yet. (Yes, I know they make smaller violins for kids, but we have umpteen instruments in this house, so she just has to play whatever we've got!)

So I suggested that perhaps the piano would be a bit easier for her to manage, especially because she's been "playing" it since she could pull herself up and reach the keys.

I discovered a wonderful resource, Hoffman Academy, and Gv was playing "Hot Cross Buns" in no time.

But then we were gone all summer and she hasn't mentioned the piano again since we returned.

Until last week, when she asked to do it again.

She started back at lesson #1, but before the week was up, had passed the point she'd reached previously.

It will be interesting to see how long this excitement keeps up!
