Friday Frivolity - Favorite Toys When You Were a Kid

It's time for this week's edition of Friday Frivolity - the blog party for all things fun, funny, hopeful & happy!

Just wait until you see what we dug up for this week's theme...

At last week's party, we shared our favorite hobbies.

This week, we're sharing our top toys from when we were kids!

I had great plans to share all sorts of silly, Little-Lisa stories to go along with each of these playthings, but then I went and broke my toe (it is not the first time, believeitornot) and since I've currently got it propped up on an Everest of pillows with an application of ice every 20 minutes in the hopes that I'll be able to wedge the darned thing into my skate for my lessons later, I'll keep the list brief:

1. Lego Bricks

Gv playing with my ancient Lego bricks -- in the original box! I still love playing with these things!

2. Shrinky Dinks

I think I have two sheets left of my Shrinky Dink paper -- when Gv gets a little older, we'll create something fun!

3. Spirograph

4. Coloforms

Gv got this set as a hand-me-down. I don't think mine are still around, but I had one that was Snoopy and a Muppets set and they were the coolest things ever!

5. Tinker Toys, Lincoln Logs & wooden blocks

Gv's had my colorful (probably lead paint-covered) wooden blocks to play with since she was a baby. She has my Tinker Toys, too, but we're still searching for the Lincoln Logs...

Now time for the new stuff!

  1. How fabulous! I am so jealous of all the toys my daughter has, however toys when I was younger didn't break! ;)
Funnily enough I did get her a pack of Shrinkies for Christmas that we have made together!

  2. Hey, lovely! Thank you SO much as always for hosting my all-time favorite blog party. :) I also wanted to let you know I loved your post about the Olympics and just reread it but couldn't leave a comment there. All I can say is: 1)you are brilliant; and 2)I can "amen" all even more now than when I first read the post, because I've finally gotten around to watching some of the Olympics DVDs we made (yes, we are old-school that way). xoxo

  8. Hope your toe is feeling better soon; I've broken my toe a few times and know how painful that can be. I think some of my favorite childhood toys were Weebles (I had their tree house), the Snoopy snowcone maker, and barbies! I had lots and lots of barbies of all kinds with extra clothes and houses, cars, etc.

  9. Back in the Mesozoic Era when I was young, I had a small green sports car (similar to today's Matchbox cars) that I absolutely loved! (I was a tomboy and thought dolls were for sissies!)

  10. Seeing the legos made me think of one of my grandsons. He had been collecting them for years and loved making very complicated ships and all kinds of things. He told me he had sold them in a garage sale not too long ago and it really hurt my heart (in a melancholy kind of way) as he is the youngest grandchild and so grown up! :-) Hope Easter brings you a fresh awareness of God and His love for you!
