This book reminded us immediately of the "five little monkeys" story:

It begins each two-page spread with the same countdown pattern of verse:

The repetition and the rhyme make it extremely fun to read and the fabulous illustrations enliven the pages even more.

Additionally, the concept of this book would make it a wonderful choice for families who foster, or even any households that want to focus on the importance of love, despite differences.

Also, the fact that the story revolves around birth makes it perfect for springtime. Gv and I debated whether to keep it with our holiday/seasonal book collection, or on the regular shelves.

Gv loved it so much, she wanted it out all year long.

If you're just building your home library, then I feel this is a great title to include. It is one of those that you will probably read over and over throughout the years, but it's such a fun little book, so you won't mind all the repetition.

Get your own copy here to add to your springtime collection and enjoy its playful celebration of the bond between parent and child!
