I've been on the hunt for a good puberty resource for the past couple of years, and while I was recently listening to a Catholic women's podcast, I heard about this title:

I scurried over to the author's website to find out more, and quickly realized that this would be a book I'd need to share with all of you!

Gv and I just finished working through the book together, and I can easily say that this book is all that I was hoping for and more!

It not only covers the topics of body changes and hygiene during this period of life, but it delves into a myriad of other topics related to femininity, such as beauty, boundaries, bullies, and friendships!

The twelve chapters are each about 6-7 (6/7!) pages long and aside from the "lesson" portion of the text, include gorgeous watercolor artwork, related Bible verses, prayers, activities, discussion questions and resources to help initiate and guide age-appropriate discussions with your daughter on all she'll be facing in the next few years.

Each chapter also introduces a different female saint, which helps connect these steadfast believers to our current lives in a practical way.

I can't tell you how much of a relief it has been for me to discover this book--every other book I'd discovered during my previous searches have all let me down when I've investigated them further.

Most have not felt "safe" to me, whether because they've covered certain topics in a different way than our family wants to or they've covered issues in much greater detail than we need at this stage in Gv's life. While you'll likely still want to preview each chapter before diving in with your daughter to ensure it meets your needs at this time, I'm confident that you'll feel just as relieved as I did when you crack open its pages.

This book does an excellent job of leading you down the path of discussion (which can become as detailed as your daughter needs it to be), but at an "overview" level so that it can cover its topics in an appropriate way.

Of course, what I most appreciate about this book is the faith-filled perspective. As the author states in the introduction, "There is such beauty and truth in our Catholic Faith's teachings on womanhood and femininity. I believe these teachings can help inoculate our daughters against the moral sickness of society."

Aside from personally sharing this title with my mom friends (& Gv sharing it with her small group at Edge), I was excited to let our parish's faith formation leader know about the book. She's looking into possibly integrating it into her work at the church, and I think it would be an excellent purchase for all churches to consider!

Even Knuckles is getting something out of this fabulous book!

If you have a daughter aged 8-15 (we can't wait for the follow-up book to come out, which will be focused on ages 13+ and help our daughters continue to grow through high school!), then I highly encourage you to get a copy of this book for your family!

You will be so grateful for the opportunity to spend some one-on-one time with your daughter and teach her life-changing truths about who we are as daughters of God!
