It's time for another round of 5 After 5!  In case you missed it, last week's list was 5 unique places you've visited and if you're new to this series, you can read more about it here.

Today I've got my list of 5 to share, as well as next week's topic for you to stew about over the upcoming days.

And if you've posted your own 5 After 5 list on your blog, I've turned this series into a link party - so be sure to get your own 5 things added below (or leave your answers in today's comments if you're not a blogger).  I loved reading everyone's comments from last week and I really can't wait to see what you share today!

List 5 Messy Things You Enjoy

I'm not so good with messes.  It took me a long time to get over the tornado path that my 1st- and 2nd-graders would cut through my classroom each day.  Eventually, I learned to get over my OCD tendencies a bit there, which often helps me survive life now, since I actually enjoy these five things:

1.  My Hair

Do I enjoy tackling this poofy rag mop each morning?

I do love my wild, never-been-colored carrot top, but what's up with the straight sections in the front and the rat's nest curls in the back?

No.  It's not my favorite chore, but I do like my locks, once I've wet them down and tamed them with a little hair product in my classic lazy-person's-scrunch-and-go hairstyle.

I'm still trying to come up with a good homemade mousse or gel recipe, so if you know of one, please share!

2.  My Husband

I've obviously lived with my hair my whole life, but it was only when I reached the point of middle-age that this hunky mess-maker moved in, bringing all.his.books. - enough books that no number of bookshelves can ever contain, or their fun cousins, All The Papers:

Believe it or not, this is the most organized things have ever been...

3.  My Daughter

A few years later, we created this little adorable package of personality, who enjoys lining things up and putting them in order, just like her mama, but is also a miniature of her daddy:

It's all books, all the time, in all the places with these two.  I like books just as much as they do, but mine rest calmly on their shelves when I'm not reading them!

4.  Messy Artists

No, I'm not a fan of works by Jackson Pollack, but I could look at George Seurat's so-messy-up-close pointillism all day:

Bueller...Bueller...

And I can also really get into the weirdo mess that is Hieronymus Bosch:

I probably spent about 80% of my time at the Prado examining all the details of this piece of craziness that believe it or not, is one of my favorite paintings

5.  Messy Food

When we're traveling, there's nothing I get excited about more than fancy-looking food in a cool new restaurant, but at home, I'm a big fan of looks-disgusting-but-tastes delicious fare.  Think a muddy pile of goo will turn me off a meal?  Nope.  Case in point, this delicious sandwich:

It may look ugly, but it is go-o-od!

For next week:

List 5 Pets You Have Had

We recently had a home visit by a local dog rescue adoption agency, so we've got puppies on the brain right now, as we wait to see who might be soon joining our family.

What's your list?  I'd love to hear!  Either leave a comment below or email me at lisahealy (at) outlook (dot) com.

Hi from good tips link up. As an engineer, I have to say that pointillism seems like the least messy form of art! Compared to brush strokes, they seem so orderly to me!

Hahaha, I completely see your "point," Amy! (btw, love your blog name and the whole play on civil engineering!) Thanks for stopping by to say hello today!
Such a fun list, your hair is awesome! I like this whole 5 for 5 idea, although I will probably never get around to doing it on my blog so here you go (for next week).....I've had a parrot, iguana, horse, hamster, and turtle.....just to name a few!

Hahaha, I'm glad you like my crazy mop of hair, Sarah! Wow, your pets list is certainly way different from mine - from a turtle to a horse, that's quite a variety! I'm so glad you stopped by to say hello and share your 5 with me today! I hope to see you around these parts again soon!
I can't wait to read next week's as well (animals are my fave!) Good luck on your pending pet adoption and thanks for sharing at the Thoughtful Spot!

So, did my animal list end up being the same as yours? I'd love to find out!
It's just an organised mess!, really. ;) I've got too many to list - one to start off with is the mess in my head! :)

Hahaha, an organized mess - I love it! Thanks for stopping by and saying hello today and for sharing!
Yayyyyyy PUPPIES!!! Sorry, just had to get that out of the way. ;P Oh em gee, my hair does the straight in the front and curly in back toooooo and it drives me NUTS! I keep trying to learn how to curl the front in a way that will stay and match the rest, but still haven't mastered it... bought a new curling wand recently so maybe soon!! I think I pinned a recipe for chia hair gel that I'll try to find for you soon... I'm supposed to be nanowrimo-ing right now so I can't risk letting myself spin into the pinterest vortex at the moment...!

The part about your husband and all the books and their fun cousins made me laugh out loud. :P My husband is also messy, only his big thing is leaving. clothes. EVERYWHERE. He likes books but rarely wants to keep them after they're read, which at least makes the bookshelf situation more manageable.

Hahaha on your yayyy puppies excitement and I am SO GLAD someone else understands my pain with the straight hair in the front and curly in the back thing (there's got to be some sort of mullet joke in there, don't you think?) Yes, please share that chia hair gel recipe, if you get the chance sometime soon and I can be our guinea pig with it.

And I'm right there with you on the clothes thing. It's like Hansel and Gretel around here sometimes....
