It's time for another round of 5 After 5! In case you missed it, last week's list was 5 hits of the 80's you love and if you're new to this series, you can read more about it here.
Today I've got my list of 5 to share, as well as next week's topic for you to stew about over the upcoming days.
And this series is now a link party, so be sure to scroll down and join in all the fun with us this week!
List 5 children's books you love
I struggled with which direction to take the list in this week.
I could choose five of the favorite books the Healys enjoy, or five books my students always adored, or five books that were special to me as a kid.
I started to nix that last idea, because I feel like I pretty much covered my favorite books earlier this year, but then I realized those were all books in a series, so I could just make this list five individual books that I loved:

1. The Snowstorm
This is one that I doubt anyone's ever heard of, but it was my absolute favorite book. It reminds me of The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe a bit, because it centers on kids staying with a relative who then encounter a bit of magic and mystery and plenty of adventures along the way.
I can't wait to experience it again with Gv, when she gets a bit older!
I can't actually pick out any of his books in particular that I loved most, but that's only because I loved them all!
My favorite part of coming home with a Scarry book from the library?
Searching for the little worm throughout the pages!
(Remember, this was in the days before "Where's Waldo" came to exist!)
3. Mike Mulligan and His Steam Shovel
4. The Snowy Day
These days, when I read it, I can't help but think of how "free range" this boy's life is!
5. Little Bunny Follows His Nose
How fun is that?
And the dill pickle page remains my favorite!
For next week:
List 5 books you'd take to a deserted island
You know, this really isn't the same as just choosing your favorite five to haul out there with you, because these are the only five books you'll read for, possibly, ever.
That's a lot of responsibility for a book, you know!
And now, here's this week's link party! Two other fabulous bloggers have teamed up with me to create lists of five each week and we hope that you'll join us, too!

That's right, every post will be read, pinned and tweeted!
Every Saturday, just stop by one of our three blogs to add your own list of five, then pop over and read as many other posts as you're able to each week - treat it like a true party and really mix it up and mingle with our fun little community!
The rules are simple: just write your own list following the prompt each week (feel free to interpret it loosely - or in a unique way!), follow each of the three hosts on the social media channel of your choice, and then get into the spirit of the party by grabbing your favorite beverage or snack and reading the lists of the other party-goers.
Your Hosts:

Awe, I remember reading these books with my oldest. It's such a great list. I need to introduce them to my younest!
ReplyDeleteHi Lisa, this looks like a fun list of books. I want to look for some of these Richard Scarry books for my youngest to read with her. I would love for you to share this post at Mom-to-Mom Mondays.
ReplyDeleteI think I would have had a really impossibly difficult time narrowing my book choices down to 5; there are so many wonderful kids books out there.
ReplyDeleteI couldn't even begin or end with just five. I teach preschool so books are all over the place and to pick a favorite, can't.
ReplyDeleteAwww, I love all of these. :) Except the snowstorm, which you're right, I've never heard of but sounds amazing based on your description... gonna have to check that one out! And that author has such great name, btw... Beryl Netherclift... you just HAVE to say it in a British accent.
ReplyDeleteThanks for sharing your post with us as #CCBG Creatively Crafty Link Party http://tryit-likeit.com/entries/link-party
ReplyDeleteMy five favorite children's authors is my take on the subject matter. Laura Eckroat, Chris Grabenstein, Debbie Dadey, Lori Moore, and Stephanie Tolen :0)
ReplyDeleteI don't think I've ever read any of these, I'll have to keep an eye out at the library on our next visit :) #FridayFrivolity
ReplyDeleteWe love those books! Thanks for sharing. My oldest children loved the Snowy Days. Thanks for sharing at the Talented Tuesday Link up.
ReplyDeleteThis is such a great list, Lisa! I love The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe so I am definitely going to look into The Snowstorm. Thanks for sharing with #SocialButterflySunday! Hope to see you link up again this week :)
ReplyDeleteAll my kids loved Richard Scarry's Books!! The illustrations are the best! Thanks for sharing at the Inspiration Spotlight party. Pinned & shared.
ReplyDeleteHey, you, I'm back again to say congratulations! (I was just over at the Cozy Reading Spot...)Also, I might have to track down "The Snowy Day" today to combat our Michigan heat and humidity, sans a/c! ;)
