It's time for another round of 5 After 5!  In case you missed it, last week's list was 5 of your favorite Summer Olympic events to watch and if you're new to this series, you can read more about it here and catch up on all the old editions here.

Today I've got my list of 5 to share, as well as next week's topic for you to stew about over the upcoming days.

And this series is now a link party, so be sure to scroll down and join in all the fun with us this week!

Share 5 of the most memorable Summer Olympics moments

Remember when I said I was betting that one of these moments in particular will be familiar to just about everybody (and that another one is still burned into your brain if you're my age or older)?

See if you guessed those two correctly:

1.  USSR/USA Basketball Final - Munich - 1972

It's not just the fact that the US basketball team lost out on their first gold medal since 1936, but the controversy surrounding this decision.

I don't remember this moment at all, but G saw what I was working on with this post and, being the basketball lover that he is, said I had to include this outrageous moment in my list.  (And since I was having a hard time deciding on my fifth one anyway, I went with his suggestion.)

To this day, the American players still don't acknowledge their loss - the silver medals sit unclaimed in an IOC vault.

2.  U.S. Swim Team - London - 2012

While not a competitive moment, this little peek into the backstage fun that Olympic athletes have is still one of my favorites.

3.  Kerri Strug - Gymnastics - Atlanta - 1996

I remember seeing this live, but even more importantly, I remember how much the clip was played over and over and over afterwards.

4.  Mary Lou Retton - Gymnastics - Los Angeles - 1984

Not only is this image burned into my brain, but this moment led to hours and hours of re-enacting in my backyard.

Not that I could do more than a cartwheel for the actual vault part, but boy, did I have every single other step down pat - from the arm signal at the beginning and the little tippy-toe bounce to the long run across the grass...ending in that over-arched pose and thousand-watt smile.

5.  Greg Louganis - Diving - Seoul - 1988

This is by far the most memorable Summer Olympic moment for me.

I even cringe just like I did when I watched it live, every time I see it (or even think about it, for that matter).

For next week:

Share 5 ways to enjoy the final days of summer

If your kids haven't returned to school yet like they have down here, then it's only a matter of days before they do.  What do you like to do to enjoy the final days of freedom each year?

And now, here's this week's link party!  Two other fabulous bloggers have teamed up with me to create lists of five each week and we hope that you'll join us, too!

That's right, every post will be read, pinned and tweeted!

Every Saturday, just stop by one of our three blogs to add your own list of five, then pop over and read as many other posts as you're able to each week - treat it like a true party and really mix it up and mingle with our fun little community!

The rules are simple:  just write your own list following the prompt each week (feel free to interpret it loosely - or in a unique way!), follow each of the three hosts on the social media channel of your choice, and then get into the spirit of the party by grabbing your favorite beverage or snack and reading the lists of the other party-goers.

Your Hosts:

Samantha, at Motivated DaysFacebook // Twitter // Pinterest // Google+

What's your list?  I'd love to hear!  Either leave a comment below or email me at lisahealy (at) outlook (dot) com.
