It's time for another round of 5 After 5!  In case you missed it, last week's list was 5 of your favorite organizational tools and if you're new to this series, you can read more about it here and catch up on all the old editions here.

Today I've got my list of 5 to share, as well as next week's topic for you to stew about over the upcoming days.

And this series is now a link party, so be sure to scroll down and join in all the fun with us this week!

List 5 ways you stay cool in the summer heat

We've only been back home in The Sunshine State for a short time now, but our patience has already run out and we're ready for the 98-degrees-at-midnight thing to end.

Here are my top 5 tips on staying cool (not counting air conditioning, of course, because that's just a given down here and runs pretty much constantly, 360 days of the year!)

1.  Find yourself a swimming pool

Fly into practically anywhere in Florida and you'll see that there's pretty much a pool for every house out there.

Around here, if you don't have a pool in your backyard, you probably live in a big neighborhood that has a community pool near the entrance.

We, however, don't have a pool and we don't live in a neighborhood.

So we just find a friend with a pool, and go enjoy theirs!

2.  Get yourself a kiddie pool

You can't exactly jump in your friend's pool whenever you want, so it's smart to get yourself a kiddie pool.

An obvious choice for someone with small children, but as my good friend Sheri knows, there's nothing as wonderful as just sitting and hanging out in a kiddie pool on a hot day, even for a grown-up.

3.  Set up a sprinkler

Sometimes those kiddie pools can be pretty pricey (we lucked out and found one on Super-Duper Clearance for 1,623% off and then had a gift card to cover the loose change total that was left!).

If a kiddie pool is out of your price range, then just do what I always did as a kid, and run through the sprinkler in the backyard!

Yes, I've done this as an adult and guess what?

It's still fun.

4.  Grab a garden hose

Maybe you don't have a sprinkler, or maybe yours is just broken from being a big ol' klutz like me and stepping on the sprinkler instead of bounding over it gracefully.

In that case, grab a garden hose and a buddy to take turns with in spraying each other down.

5.  Go ice skating

How cute is this throwback photo of Gv's first time on the ice?

Finally, if all of these options are a little too wet for your tastes, seek out some water in its solid state and go ice skating!

And if it's anywhere near as hot as it is here, you can probably just go do it in shorts and a tank top and be perfectly comfortable!

For next week:

Share your 5 favorite summer Olympic events to watch

Did you watch the opening ceremonies last night?  Is your television set to play coverage of the games 24/7?  Or will you just pick and choose a few favorite events to watch?  I can't wait to hear!

And now, here's this week's link party!  Two other fabulous bloggers have teamed up with me to create lists of five each week and we hope that you'll join us, too!

That's right, every post will be read, pinned and tweeted!

Every Saturday, just stop by one of our three blogs to add your own list of five, then pop over and read as many other posts as you're able to each week - treat it like a true party and really mix it up and mingle with our fun little community!

The rules are simple:  just write your own list following the prompt each week (feel free to interpret it loosely - or in a unique way!), follow each of the three hosts on the social media channel of your choice, and then get into the spirit of the party by grabbing your favorite beverage or snack and reading the lists of the other party-goers.

Your Hosts:

Samantha, at Motivated DaysFacebook // Twitter // Pinterest // Google+

What's your list?  I'd love to hear!  Either leave a comment below or email me at lisahealy (at) outlook (dot) com.

Love it! I was too busy trying to...stay cool in the summer heat to put a post together, but my no a/c ideas would include: watching the movie "Frozen" while eating frozen hot chocolate; putting my feet in a bucket of cold water; going grocery shopping (those stores are always freezing); going to see a movie; and laying on the floor directly under a ceiling fan set at jet-plane departure speed. :)

Hahaha about trying to stay cool, as well as all the ways you added. I especially love the jet-plane departure fan...
I live in Texas and our weather is just like yours. All great suggestions to keep cool! Thanks for sharing with #overthemoon.

Sure thing, Charlotte, and thanks for taking the time to say hey!
I'm thinking about that kiddie pool! I could have used it yesterday after working in the yard, but I did take my grandchildren to a local pool. Thanks for sharing. I'm visiting today from Mom-to-Mom Mondays.

The kiddie pool is GENIUS I tell you, especially for us, because we only have a normal-sized bathtub, so at least in the kiddie pool, we can submerge ourselves pretty well to cool off! Thanks so much for stopping by today, Donna!
I hate to be hot! Just yesterday I was at back to school night in a gym with no airconditioning on a very hot day. I think I would have liked a nice fan! Visiting from Coffee Conversations today!

Ugh. That back to school night doesn't sound fun at all - and makes me wonder how my mom survived growing up in Florida with no air conditioning - and back in the day of petticoats, too... So happy you took the time to say hello today, Valerie!
I love that puppy!! Visiting from the bloggers pitstop!

I know - such a cut little doggie, right? Thanks for saying hello today, Helen!
Some top tips there! Unfortunately we don't get that sort of weather here.... well occasionally but this summer I can count on one hand how many "too hot, I'm going to die days" we've had... TWO! Such a cute photo of your girl on the ice! <3 #FridayFrivolity

I'd wondered how warm it got over there - I've only been in the winter (besides hiking across Scotland one May) - I guess it never reaches the boiling temps it does here. :)
We don't have a pool in the backyard this year, and it is so hot! Hopefully next year we will be able to have one because we miss it so much! I have been under the sprinkler a few times as I was watering the garden, in fact today I turned it on and a bit later it started to rain. I ran out to shut it off and I got soaked! I cooled down really quickly!

Oh, gosh, I think it would be soooo hard to get used to having a pool and then not have one, Nikki! Sorry you got soaked in the rain, but at least you cooled off quickly!
The pool is our fave so much so that my daughter has begun year-round swim team (indoors when it's not hot).

Do you have a pool at your house, or just one close by to use? How fun that your daughter's on a swim team this year - I hope she has loads of fun!
Here in Georgia, we've had more than 45 days of temps over 95! It's too hot to even go outside. Those pools look so inviting! Thanks for partying with us at Merry Monday.

Ugh. I have to say, we were traipsing around Milledgeville at the end of our trip and it felt even more miserably hot than when we got home! Hope the temps cool off a bit for you soon!
