31 Games - Kitty Wants a Corner

Is your 3-year-old the youngest of the family, or are all the kids your child plays with close to that same age?  If so, then you know how difficult it can be to find ways for them to all be involved in the fun and games - so many choices are just too advanced for this age.

But now, you'll have a list of 31 unique games that even a 3-year-old can join in with.  A few of these ideas will be best for the preschool set, but most will work for a wide range of ages!

This is basically an outdoor version of Musical Chairs.  It's simple, but loads of fun as all the "kitties" race around trying to find a spot.

Kids love it because there's no technical winner to this game, just new "kitties."

Kitty Wants a Corner

Players:  5 +

Ages:  3 +

Place:  a space large enough for the players to run around in

Equipment:  none

How to play:  All the players decide which places around the yard (trees, playground equipment, spots on fences or houses) are the game's designated "corners" (one spot less than the number of players).

One player becomes the "kitty" and stands in the middle of the play area.  The rest of the players stand alone at one of the "corners."

The kitty meows (kids have such fun with this) and then cries out, "Kitty wants a corner!"

At that moment, each player must move to a different corner.  The "kitty" must also run and grab a corner.

The player without a corner becomes the new kitty and play continues until they give out or get called home for dinner.

I've never heard of this game before, but it's one I'm even excited to go and try out.  How about you?  I'd love to hear!  Either leave a comment below or email me at lisahealy (at) outlook (dot) com.
