Welcome back to Latticed Learning!  This year, we're continuing to learn while we play - repeating many of our favorites from last year while adding in all sorts of new activities as well.

This day's post is devoted to our weekly Bible stories - some weeks have more activities than others, but each lesson will help your little one grow closer to God!

Read the Bible

Pages 71-91 in this Bible and 61-67 in this one

Read a Little More

We think books are the best around here, so it's always fun to discover great new titles:

Sing Some Songs

We listened to plenty of this Andrew Lloyd Webber musical album all week, which brought back memories of playing with Donny & Marie dolls and my Grandma & Granddad's house.

These songs (about halfway down on the page) were also fun to sing together.

Watch Some Videos

This video matched right up with this week's lesson.

Play and Create

We repeated lots of things we did last year to learn about the Joseph, then added in a few new activities.

We made a colorful coat out of a grocery sack and strips of tissue paper:

Tip:  don't cut the neck hole as big as I did, because it kept sliding off her shoulders.

I printed out both the sequencing cards and mini book from this site. They are so cute!.

I also printed and cut out these cute figures, then Gv glued them onto large craft sticks and we used them as puppets each day to act out the Bible story.  We also grabbed them whenever we listened to track 3 of Joseph & the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat, lining them up in birth order to shout out the names of the tribes of Israel:

We created a dream catcher out of a paper plate, construction paper strips, and stickers:

This is the back.  Just cut out the center of the plate, then glue colored paper strips across the opening, in a criss-cross pattern.

This is the front.  We decided to decorate it with star stickers, but you could easily make it fancier with all sorts of things like paint and glitter.  You could even glue some small beads to the front of the "web," but we didn't catch any dreams yet in ours.

I also created a Fat & Skinny Cows Dream activity.  You can read all the details over here at this post, but here's a little preview:

We also made a paper bag colored-coat Joseph puppet, which was new to us:

Gv was excited to use my paper cutter for these rainbow strips, then she did the face all on her own.

Gv used her new watercolor painting technique for this fun color-by-number coat:

To do this yourself, color in all the squares with marker, but not fully. Then use a paintbrush and a cupful of water to paint over it all and blend the colors.

Gv "painted on" these tissue paper pieces to add to another coat:

I just cut out a robe from paper, then Gv tore little strips of tissue paper, laid them on the coat, and painted over it all with plenty of water. The colors from the tissue paper seeped through, which provided a cool effect once the paper pieces dried and fell off.

And finally, we didn't actually make these, but how cute is this idea?
