Shepherd on the Search Companion CD

Have you heard about The Shepherd on the Search yet?  It's a wonderful new tradition that keeps the focus on Christ at Christmas while still having fun with all the build-up before the big day. Today I'm sharing the fantastic companion CD with you!

Last week, I told you how excited I am about using The Shepherd on the Search with Gv this Christmas.

I seriously cannot wait until all the fun starts this weekend and this little guy begins his trek through our house to find baby Jesus!

Besides the fantastic kit that I introduced to you last week, you'll want to grab this fun companion CD, as well.

And even if you don't have little ones around the house to share the shepherd with, you'll enjoy listening to this thoughtful album.

One of my favorite Christmas records was always this one by Perry Como because the "B" side of the LP included The Story of the First Christmas, where Perry narrated the story with some vocals interspersed throughout.

That's what this Shepherd on the Search CD reminds me of, because it includes the entire Luke 2:4-20 passage, alternating sections of it with coordinating Christmas songs.

I have to say, I was a little disappointed to listen to this CD and not hear Shepherd on the Search creator Josh Helms's voice at all, but despite missing his amazing vocals, this CD will certainly be a wonderful addition to all of our Christmas activities.

What makes this album so unique is the reason behind Josh's absence - it's completely controlled by kids!

The readings from Luke are paired with Christmas standards like Away in a Manger and Go Tell it on the Mountain as well as with original songs like Something in the Air Tonight and I'm Just a Cow by Helms and Lonnie Fowler.

I usually don't care for listening to a bunch of kids sing (unless it's my kid, because then it's just too adorable), but this entire album was just so natural and joyous, I couldn't help but love it.

And Gv really loved hearing all the kids sing and speak - I think she connected with all the songs and passages more than if an adult had been doing it.

This disc will live in the boombox all winter, I can just tell!

So remember to click over to the official Shepherd on the Search website where you can sign up for updates and ideas over the next several weeks.  Then get the cool companion CD here to play all season long - it would be just perfect to play on Christmas Eve, right before everyone heads to bed

And I'll be back in another week or so to share how we're using our Shepherd on the Search kit this year.  I hope you've already grabbed your own kit and will be joining us this season as we look forward to the birth of Our Savior!

What are some of your favorite CDs to listen to this time of year? Are you as excited to add this one to your list as I am?  I'd love to hear!  Either leave a comment below or email me at lisahealy (at) outlook (dot) com.
