Welcome back to Latticed Learning!  This year, we're continuing to learn while we play - repeating many of our favorites from last year while adding in all sorts of new activities as well.

This day's post is devoted to our weekly Bible stories - some weeks have more activities than others, but each lesson will help your little one grow closer to God!

Read the Bible

Pages 257-264 in this Bible and 181-185 in this one

Read a Little More

I found so many books for this week's Bible story:

Hard to Swallow Tale of Jonah and the Whale

Sing Some Songs

We couldn't get enough of this fun song by the Newsboys or this one by FFH this week!

We also tried singing this one a bit, too.

Watch Some Videos

We watched two videos for this week's lesson:

This video matched up with our Bible story.

And this movie was fun, too.

Play and Create

We did a few things to learn more about Jonah:

I first printed out this cute mini book for Gv to cut out and stick in a dollar store photo album.

I draped a blue sheet over some furniture to create a "fish fort" - where Gv could go to read and hang out all week.

Made all the more fun with small paper plates & construction paper eyes!

Then I made this little Jonah in the fish clothespin for her to play with:

Gulp!

Hi, Jonah!

We decorated one of these little wooden pegs to look like Jonah, shoved him in a balloon, blew it up and decorated it like a fish:

The fish, but where's Jonah?

There he is!

I made this challenging (for Gv) Jonah-in-the-fish cup game, with another of these little wooden pegs, a clear plastic cup and some yarn:

Poke a hole in the bottom, thread the yarn through, then tie a big knot.  Tie the other end around Jonah.  You could even add fins and a tail to this fish cup, but we were content (read: too lazy to do more) with googly eyes.

Then, inspired by this creation (which is still going strong as one of Gv's favorite toys), I searched and found this template to create a fish out of paper plates.

We used one of the friends from the fiery furnace a couple of weeks ago as Jonah and then added in some little plastic fish we had hanging around:

Gv was excited to do this maze and this dot-to-dot.

She's just learning how to do word searches, so this was a great one to try (although some words are vertical and diagonal, which was a bit too tricky for her).

Finally, I found this cute Jonah printable pack. We didn't do any of the pages from it, but I wanted to share it because it's so cute.
