5 After 5, Favorite crafts for kids

Summer is a time for most people to stay outside all day, but it's when we shut ourselves in with the air conditioning around here.

If you're stuck inside escaping the sun's rays (or the rain), try some of these fun craft ideas!

It's time for another round of 5 After 5!  In case you missed it, last week's list was books that have changed you and if you're new to this series, you can read more about it here - then catch up on all the old editions here.

Today I've got my list of 5 to share, as well as next week's topic for you to stew about over the upcoming days.

And this series is a link party, so be sure to scroll down and join in all the fun with us this week!

Favorite crafts for kids

I like to think we're pretty crafty around here. It's been something Gv and I have done ever since she was old enough to hold a crayon or marker in her fist and gives us something to do together.

Most of these craft posts are associated with a holiday, but it's easy to apply the different techniques to just about any subject you can think of!

Here are some of my favorite projects from Gv's toddler days:

1. Patriotic Fun with your Little Sparkler

2. Rainbow Craft Fun!

3. Happy Heart Crafts

4. Spooky Hand & Foot-Tracing Fun

5. 2,473 Ways to Decorate a Paper Egg (or anything else)

For next week:

Summer Bucket List

Until we've survived the final day of school around here (for G), our brains just can't switch over to summer mode, so I still have no clue what we'll be doing...

I do, however, have a constant, running list of fun, free things to do as a family, so I'm sure I can easily come up with a few ideas to share -- and I can't wait to see what you come up with, too!

And now, here's this week's link party!  Another fabulous blogger has teamed up with me to create a list of five each week and we hope that you'll join us, too!

That's right, every post will be read, pinned and tweeted!

Every Saturday, just stop by one of our blogs to add your own list of five, then pop over and read as many other posts as you're able to each week - treat it like a true party and really mix it up and mingle with our fun little community!

The rules are simple:  just write your own list following the prompt each week (feel free to interpret it loosely - or in a unique way!), follow both of the hosts on the social media channel of your choice, and then get into the spirit of the party by grabbing your favorite beverage or snack and reading the lists of the other party-goers.

Your Hosts:

Lisa, at Syncopated MamaFacebook // Twitter // Pinterest // Google+ // Bloglovin'
Samantha, at Motivated DaysTwitter // Pinterest // Google+

What's your list?  I'd love to hear!  Either leave a comment below or email me at lisahealy (at) outlook (dot) com.

Also, if you don't want to miss a single minute of fun around here, be sure to sign up for free updates and then look forward to having each post delivered right to your inbox!

Fun ideas! Off the top of my head our 5 favorite crafts are Punched Tin Cans, making clay objects, weaving, wood burning crafts, and making bracelets.

We made a punched tin can lantern last year and loved it! Gv's very into clay right now (although nothing's really recognizable!) and I bet we'll enjoy those other ideas when she gets older! Thanks for sharing your activities, Joanne!
Thanks for sharing with us at Love the Learn; Pinned.
Thanks for all your support!
We made that first craft last 4th of July! My kids loved it!

How fun that you made that craft, too! I'm glad your crew enjoyed it, too!
We just had the twins finished painting little bird houses (yes it has taken us am eternity to actually get the damn things painted and done) and little finches settled in and laid eggs. The toddlers could not believe that birds moved in and had babies. Their faces were so priceless.

How neat that little birds moved in right away (once you finally got them finished!). I bet that was such a neat project to work on with them!
Crafts inside with the cool air is a must in so many places. It's also fun to take #6 plastic and color it then let it shrink it in the oven. So many ways to amaze the kids with science and art at the same time!

I used to LOVE shrinky dinks like that when I was a kid! I wonder if they still make it...
I love your Pictures, your daughter is adorable Lisa . I bet you had a hard time cutting it down to five as I know you have dozens of crafts for kids up your sleeve.

Hahaha, yes, I do so many things with her and forget to take photos, so it can be a real struggle. :D
This post is so cheerful and fun. Your little girl is so cute. I really thing the footprint ghosts are an inspired idea. I bet kids will really enjoy making them.

I always enjoy reading your joyful posts, thanks for sharing.

Awww, thanks for such a sweet comment, Leanna! We're busy cranking out more little ghost feet around here now -- it's such an easy way to liven up the joint!
Thanks for bringing your post to the Blogger’s Pit Stop last week.
