The moment I read those words about this 5-part documentary series, I knew I wanted to support this important work being done.
I've mentioned the Prison Fellowship ministry before and how their Angel Tree program is a great way to give to others during the holidays, but the group is now presenting The Restoration Series: Jonathan's Walk, which follows one man as he re-enters his community after 15 years in prison.
The prison system is often portrayed on television and in movies as being full of "bad guys" and while there are no doubt plenty of "bad guys" in there, these buildings are also full of people like Jonathan, who make serious mistakes and pay for their crimes, but desperately need tools to help them continue on their path of better choices and starting life anew at their release.
Jonathan knows his transition isn't going to be easy. With over half of prisoners returning to prison within two years of their release, Jonathan is aware of the challenge set before him and knows the odds aren't in his favor.
Still, he's determined to take the skills he's learned from The Academy and the support he's gained from Prison Fellowship into the world outside of incarceration.
