I'd mentioned recently that this new spin-off was being released and after watching three episodes, I'm back to share what I think:

I recently checked out the television series Sons of Thunder on Pure Flix and was surprised to realize that maybe I'd be more interested in a show about a burly motorcycle dude than I'd first thought.

Now I've just finished up watching episode 3 of its spin-off, Sons of Thunder: Redemption (which launched on January 13th and has new episodes releasing every Thursday) and I'm finding myself once again sucked in to a storyline about bikers.

This show follows another lone biker on the road and on a journey to share his faith, seek forgiveness, and encourage others.

What I really like so far about this new series is that the main character (Jacob) has wound up on a ranch in California (working with his former fiancée) and has discovered that his checkered past isn't enough to keep him from helping out the ranch owner and his family.

I enjoy having a broader field of characters to return to from episode to episode (hence my getting sucked into the storyline after just a few shows!) and am anxious to find out whether Jacob's plan to save the ranch will be successful or not.

In this particular episode, a spy has infiltrated the ranch family: an undercover member of the Devil's Hand, the motorcycle gang that Jacob has spurned (& who are not happy about it!) Jacob has no idea that the "new guy" poses such a threat to him...

Preparations for the big fundraising rodeo (Jacob's idea to help save the ranch) are also continuing along in episode 3, which honestly gives the show more of a ranch-feel than biker-gang vibe and likely makes the show appealing to an even wider range of audience members.

Plus, aside from the development of the plot and its characters, what makes this show unique is that it is chock-full of Bible verses (Psalm 143:8, 1 Corinthians 15:33, & 2 Corinthians 6:14) as Jacob shares the Word in his conversations with others.

Also, the overarching theme of trust continues to unfold and be applied to more than just the main character's relationship with his former girl. You can really see the tie-in between that initial point of broken trust and developing situations which highlight not only broken trust, but knowing who to trust and when.

I'm not entirely sure how many episodes will make up this season, but I hope you'll join me in following Jacob's journey to redemption every Thursday!
