Ever since Answer Me This ended last year, I've had many readers request that I just start it up again on my own.  I'd thought about it, but recently came up with my own twist on the concept that I was planning to begin in the summer.  However, now that Kendra is starting her party up again for a limited time, I'll put my plans on hold until summer's end.  Look for updates on my new project as the summer draws to a close - and maybe some of my Answer Me This friends will even come join me when I get it going!

1. How did you celebrate the 4th of July?

We spent the day at a local festival for the excitement of mountain music and fireworks that only a small town can provide:

One of the quirkiest - and most fun - events of the day:  a rubber duck race down a local stream

Even though Gv had already gotten her patriotic-themed crafty urges out of her system a few weeks earlier, she still managed to keep the red, white and blue spirit alive with her attire:

2.  Do you sunburn easily?

Two words:  Natural Redhead.

3.  Hot dogs.  Yay or nay?

We don't really eat them, but there was a time not too long ago when we'd stop at Ikea on the way home from Saturday morning at the rink if we had to run errands, because you can't really beat a 50-cent hot dog for lunch.

I also tend to crave the encased-questionable-meat every spring when the state fair rolls around, although since we had such success with these delicious creations this past year, we'll be repeating that new tradition from now on...

4.  Have you ever personally set off fireworks?

I've always been a big fan of sparklers (they're inexpensive, too!) and I enjoyed myself some of those popper things that you throw on the ground when I was a kid, but I've only set off "real" fireworks (whatever you can buy from a store) once, when a family member spent a near fortune on an assortment of them and I had a chance to set off one or two showers of sparkles myself.

5.  Have you ever jumped off the high dive?

I've actually never really been somewhere that had one, except for the big community pool that I had my first swimming lessons at (I think I only lasted one day of a summer-long session, so I merely cowered at the sight of them that day).

I've often wondered what it would feel like to jump off of a high dive, because I certainly loved jumping off regular diving boards at friends' houses growing up (does anyone else miss the days of home diving boards?)  However, ever since this happened, I don't think I could bring myself to do it anymore:

6.  Do you do anything weird in your sleep?

I don't know, I'm asleep. {grin}

I think the weirdest thing is that pretty much whatever position I fall asleep in, I wake up in.  I just don't move.

Not the case when I was younger, however.  I'd occasionally pay my parents a visit in the wee hours, usually doing something bizarre like trying to tuck an aging cow into the reading chair beside the bed.  (I know it was an aging cow because they told me the next morning that I kept repeating "The cow has gray hair" over and over while I performed my ministrations)

  1. So funny that you are camping close to me! And I could not bring myself to click the high dive link - so scary. :)
