Welcome back to Latticed Learning!  This year, we're continuing to learn while we play - repeating many of our favorites from last year while adding in all sorts of new activities as well.

This day's post is devoted to our weekly Bible stories - some weeks have more activities than others, but each lesson will help your little one grow closer to God!

Read the Bible

Pages 194-200 in this Bible

Read a Little More

Even though I'm always on the hunt for more books about a particular subject, this week's lesson had me stumped.

Of course, the fact that my brain is full of all things Christmas might have something to do with it, too.

Let me know if you come up with any other great books for this week!

Sing Some Songs

We pretty much just stuck with this one that I came across.

When we weren't jingle-belling and fa-la-la-la-laing, that is.

Watch Some Videos

I found a couple of short videos for this week's lesson:

Play and Create

We didn't do as much as usual with this week.  That's pretty much because it landed during the week of Christmas and we just had so much going on that I decided to just spend that week and the week of New Year's just reading books and doing a few activities.

Here's what we did to learn about King Solomon:

First, we constructed crowns - out of both paper plates and pipe cleaners:

Gv chose the pipe cleaners and I put this together for a colorful crown

You'll have to use your imagination a bit for this one (or look carefully at the next photo) because as soon she took this thing off her head, she wanted to cut out some crown tips, too

She combined them into one crown before I finished putting the colorful one together

Then, we spent some time with her blocks, building the Temple:

Finally, I printed out the two Solomon stories found here and we chose several pictures to cut out and post as reminders of our story this week.

Thanks, Joanne! We just kind of do our usual playing and see if anything could be altered to match our week's theme.
Awe, reminds me of my homeschooling days. How quickly they grow. :) Thanks for sharing on #ChasingCommunity ! :)

They certainly do grow quickly, so I'm trying to soak up each and every moment! Thanks for saying hello today!

It has been so neat to see her remember things this year from when we did them last year - I just love how she's absorbed it all!
Thanks for sharing at Literacy Musing Mondays! Themed learning is so fun with littles. :) Love the pipe cleaner crown.

I have to laugh every time she drags that pipe cleaner crown out - that was actually one of the activities that we repeated from last year, because she's continued to play with that silly crown since then!
Such a nice learning activity, she looks really happy doing it. Great idea having different types of learning videos, reading and play. I can just imagine her talking and asking questions.

We certainly have fun with all that we do during the day - from the moment she was born, I've been trying to soak up every moment and enjoy her! Thanks for saying hi here today, Leanna!
Extra books for Solomon? I'll have to think about that one. Thanks for sharing this at Booknificent Thursday on Mommynificent.com this week! Always a pleasure to have you!

It's really interesting to see how few "extra" books there are out there on these Bible stories! Someone should get on that and write some!
