5 After 5, Favorite Cured Meats

Mmmm...cured meat. It's so bad for you, but so, so good...

See which ones topped the list at this week's 5 After 5!

It's time for another round of 5 After 5!  In case you missed it, last week's list was favorite classical pieces and if you're new to this series, you can read more about it here - then catch up on all the old editions here.

Today I've got my list of 5 to share, as well as next week's topic for you to stew about over the upcoming days.

And this series is a link party, so be sure to scroll down and join in all the fun with us this week!

List 5 favorite cured meats

This is the time of year when we look forward to eating special things (that are usually pretty unhealthy) and for those of us at the Healy house, that includes plenty of cured meats!

I can't wait to sink my teeth into some:

1.  Bacon

It's a good thing our grocery budget doesn't include meat, because I might not be able to resist eating way more of this than I should.

It seems like everyone loves all things bacon these days, but I'm happy if I can occasionally have some on a BLT (preferably one made my mother!)

2.  Salami

G and I always stick one of these sausages in each other's stocking each year at Christmas time. I usually devour mine before the new year starts and G usually holds on to his for much, much longer.

He's gone the longest without eating it so far this year and since it waves hello to me every time I open the pantry door, I might just have to finish it off myself.

He'll be getting a new one before long anyway, right?

3.  Pepperoni

Even though we eat pizza every week, we never have pizza with pepperoni on it.

But I love love love it -- and I might just have eaten about 13 pieces of the stuff at a recent birthday party we were at...

4.  Jamón ibérico

I kind of feel like this one and #5 are in a tie for first place, but since I've only had this (super-crazy pricey) one while I was actually traveling around Spain, I haven't ever been able to do a side-by-side taste test, which would definitely be the yummiest taste test on the planet!

5.  Prosciutto

We always have this one as a part of our Christmas Eve meal tradition, but I've never had any here in the States that's quite as good as what I've eaten in Italy.

I think the Italians just cut it better (so incredibly thin), because the second this stuff hits your tongue, it completely melts.

Mmmm....

For next week:

Ways to Celebrate Thanksgiving

What things do you do to make this holiday special for your family?

I can't wait to see what you share!

That's right, every post will be read, pinned and tweeted!

Every Saturday, just stop by one of our blogs to add your own list of five, then pop over and read as many other posts as you're able to each week - treat it like a true party and really mix it up and mingle with our fun little community!

The rules are simple:  just write your own list following the prompt each week (feel free to interpret it loosely - or in a unique way!), follow both of the hosts on the social media channel of your choice, and then get into the spirit of the party by grabbing your favorite beverage or snack and reading the lists of the other party-goers.
