Remember how excited I was about this NIV Bible for kids?
Well, I still love that one, but now I've discovered another that I am super-excited to own:
This is an amazing reference tool that every home should have -- not only does it include the complete text of the NIV translation of the Bible, but so, so much more!
For starters, the cover of this book grabs your attention right away and merely hints at all the amazing features you'll find inside.
You open the book to the presentation page, along with the typical translation preface and table of contents.
Then you immediately discover that this Bible is filled with over 700 amazing, full-color photographs, illustrations, infographics and maps throughout each and every page!
As if that all wasn't enough, each book opens with a great introduction, full of important facts as well as an image to orient the reader.
It took me a few minutes to realize, but something felt different about this Bible besides all the extras packed within its pages.
I realized that the text runs only in one column, with all of the study notes along the side. This may not seem to be a big deal, but I quickly discovered that this format made it so much easier to read than my typical two-column Bible that has all the study notes at the bottom and cross-references cluttering things up in-between.
I just can't get over how much extra info is packed into the pages of this fabulous book -- and it manages to maintain focus on the Bible verses themselves while merely using all these bells and whistles to help bring the material alive for the reader in a way I've never seen before.
I am seriously super-excited myself over this new book and am going to completely ignore the "Kids'" portion of the title so that I can begin using it!
And although it's way above Gv's level to use independently right now, I just know she'll love delving into things at a deeper level using this Bible during our Latticed Learning time next year.
Side note: I think this Bible would be especially fabulous for any homeschoolers who tend to follow more classical learning methods!

The recommended age range for this children's Bible is 8-12 and I can totally see how that is the target age for this book, but I actually think that younger children would enjoy exploring all the graphics with you long before they can read it by themselves.
And as far as the upper limit of this Bible, I think it's pretty obvious from my excitement that I don't feel anyone could be too old to own this particular edition!
