5 After 5, April Fool's Pranks

Are you big on pranks for April Fool's Day? I'm not now, but when I was a kid...

It's time for another round of 5 After 5!  In case you missed it, last week's list was favorite Bible verses and if you're new to this series, you can read more about it here - then catch up on all the old editions here.

Today I've got my list of 5 to share, as well as next week's topic for you to stew about over the upcoming days.

And this series is a link party, so be sure to scroll down and join in all the fun with us this week!

List 5 great April Fool's jokes or pranks

I haven't gotten into April Fool's Day since I was a kid, but when I was younger, I'd always pull out these classic "tricks:"

1. Fake Bugs

I hate cockroaches so much, I can only handle (barely!) posting a photo of a dead one!

I had a small collection of rubber bugs: a roach, spider and an ant and I would delight in spending April Fool's Day leaving them out in random places for my mom to find.

Gv does this on a daily basis - no need for a special joke day for our girl! - and I suspect that my mom, like me, was never truly surprised by these things or thought they were real bugs.

But then again, the histrionics that ensued were either Oscar-worthy performances, or my mom actually fell for my pitiful prank.

Her reactions were way better than mine ever are!

2. Claiming False Things

It cracks me up just to think about this "trick" that I'd use. I got wild with these falsehoods, I tell you - like if it was a Wednesday, I'd say it was Tuesday.

See, I was just too hilarious way back then!

3. Ridiculous Outfits

I'd come out dressed in something completely absurd or inappropriate - which I tried to pass off as a serious outfit selection for the day, but my mom knew my coordination-obsessed self would never actually leave the house in any of them!

4. Shouting "April Fool's!" constantly throughout the day

Anything that remotely could have been considered a joke, all day long, would be followed by an extremely loud "April Fool's!"

(This exclamation was only ever matched in intensity by shouting "Sorry!" when sending someone back to start while playing the board game.)

Well, would you look at that? I think this is the first time I couldn't come up with five things.

I'd thought I had five, but then I realized that pretty much everything I did fell under #2's jurisdiction (like claiming my mom's shirt was green instead of red, or telling my dad we were going on a field trip to the moon), so that left me at a loss.

For next week:

List 5 of your top spring cleaning tips

Do you go on a big spring cleaning spree? I'm still trying to tackle the to-do lists I created for the new year and our spring break week, but if it were a normal spring (does such a thing as normal even exist?), then these five things would top my list.

And now, here's this week's link party!  Another fabulous blogger has teamed up with me to create a list of five each week and we hope that you'll join us, too!

That's right, every post will be read, pinned and tweeted!

Every Saturday, just stop by one of our blogs to add your own list of five, then pop over and read as many other posts as you're able to each week - treat it like a true party and really mix it up and mingle with our fun little community!

The rules are simple:  just write your own list following the prompt each week (feel free to interpret it loosely - or in a unique way!), follow both of the hosts on the social media channel of your choice, and then get into the spirit of the party by grabbing your favorite beverage or snack and reading the lists of the other party-goers.

Your Hosts:

Lisa, at Syncopated MamaFacebook // Twitter // Pinterest // Google+ // Bloglovin'
Samantha, at Motivated DaysTwitter // Pinterest // Google+

What's your list?  I'd love to hear!  Either leave a comment below or email me at lisahealy (at) outlook (dot) com.

Also, if you don't want to miss a single minute of fun around here, be sure to sign up for free updates and then look forward to having each post delivered right to your inbox!
