At last week's party, we moved towards a more minimalist lifestyle for National Simplify Your Life Week.
Today, in honor of National S'mores Day, we're focusing on those yummy, sticky, campfire treats.
I'm a big fan of the whole S'mores concept in food (G, not so much), but, ironically enough, I don't really care for actual S'mores (which G loves, of course).
Gv loves S'mores, too! |
I'll still indulge in a sticky square or two when we're camping -- it's just one of those things you have to do -- and I might even get a wild hair at some point during the year and make some indoors S'mores using homemade marshmallows, our favorite homemade graham crackers, and this delicious chocolate-hemp spread.
My disdain for actual S'mores also didn't stop me from creating these fun treats for Gv's Colorful Campout Birthday Party a couple years ago.
The S'mores on a Stick were a big hit, that's for sure. |
But what I really love is S'mores-themed food (this is where G walks away).
Cookies, cheesecake, ice cream -- pretty much turn anything desserty into S'mores flavor and I'm asking where I can jump in line to fill my belly with the stuff.
Luckily, my friend the Guilty Chocoholic Mama shares this love for all things S'mores-flavored, so she's constantly providing me with delicious recipes to try (much to G's chagrin).
You can't go wrong with treats like Chocolate & More Chocolate S'mores Cookies:
Or S'mores Granola Bark:
Or her latest creation, Chocolate-Caramel S'mores Snack Mix:
I haven't tried that last one yet, but it's on my list to make soon -- except I think I'll work in my yummy Coconut Milk Caramel to the mix to put my own spin on it.
Mmmmm...now I have S'mores on the brain...I might just have to go make something S'more-flavored right now (but not actual S'mores!)
Now time for the new stuff!
