Welcome back to Latticed Learning!  This year, we're continuing to learn while we play - repeating many of our favorites from last year while adding in all sorts of new activities as well.

This day's post is devoted to our weekly Bible stories - some weeks have more activities than others, but each lesson will help your little one grow closer to God!

Read the Bible

Pages 34-38 in this Bible and 33-37 in this one

Read a Little More

We think books are the best around here, so it's always fun to discover great new titles.  Unfortunately, I don't know of any good books about this Bible story.  I did find these two when I did a search, but I have no clue what they're like...

Sing Some Songs

I couldn't come up with any songs for this week, but I did think this idea was pretty cute.

Watch Some Videos

This short video reiterates the Bible story in a cartoon format:

This one was kind of fun, too:

Play and Create

We repeated lots of things we did last year to learn about the Tower of Babel, then added in a new activity.

I created this mini book, punched a hole in the corner of each page, and stuck it all on a ring (a plastic one I'd had in my classroom, but you could use one like this).  We're keeping all the ring books in a basket.

We built a snack tower, using chips, homemade hummus and guacamole:

There are so many other snacks you could use to do this, like cookies, crackers, peanut butter, tuna fish...just grab whatever will work that you're planning on eating anyway.

The construction zone continued, as we scouted the house for other building materials, like...

our beloved Mega Blocks:

She was such a building maniac, I couldn't manage to get a non-fuzzy shot without her frantically adding another block to the stack!
the pieces from our threading noodler:

and our collection of wooden blocks;

We created a crafty tower using a paper towel tube (read how to do it here):

We used markers to create a bunch of "people" with these and then used them to role play the story:

And I made a ring book out of these cute cards (scroll down a bit to find them) showing how to say "hello" in all different languages (but I think I've decided to recreate a set of my own with different ways to say "good morning" instead, because this set of cards actually bounced between all sorts of greetings and I'd like to be consistent):

We also made a tower using craft sticks, which was a new project for us this year.
